Free Glass Appraisal App Guide: Marks, Pontils, Signatures, Color, Form and Damage
Use a free glass appraisal app to triage art glass, crystal, bottles, marks, pontils, signatures, color, damage, age clues, and appraisal next steps.

- Identify form: vase, lamp, bottle, bowl, paperweight, sculpture, perfume bottle, dish, or tableware.
- Check maker marks, signature, label, pontil, color, technique, dimensions, and whether the piece is part of a set.
- Photograph chips, cracks, cloudiness, scratches, repairs, missing stoppers, wiring, and replaced fittings.
Key value drivers
Glass value is shaped by maker, design, technique, age, rarity, size, condition, signature, provenance, and demand. A Murano lamp, cameo glass vase, crystal paperweight, and perfume bottle need different evidence.
When to get a professional appraisal
Use the free screener first. Move to a professional appraisal when the glass may be signed, insured, inherited, high-value, part of an estate, or difficult to separate from reproductions.
Photo checklist
- Full object, base, rim, signature, label, pontil, side profile, interior, underside, fittings, stopper, and scale reference.
- Close-ups of chips, cracks, scratches, cloudiness, repairs, residue, missing parts, labels, and provenance paperwork.
Market evidence note
A free screen can organize visible clues and next steps, but it is not a final appraisal. Sale records and catalog examples must be matched to the exact item, condition, originality, provenance, and current demand.
What similar items actually sold for
To help ground this guide in real market activity, here are recent example auction comps from Appraisily’s internal database. These matched sales are market context only, not an object estimate or identification, and they do not guarantee a price for your specific art glass.
Shown USD range: USD 40-USD 1,700. Median of these 9 USD examples: USD 90.
