An antique Swedish double handled hand carved decorative bowl made in the Art Nouveau manner. The exterior and the handles of the ware are adorned with floral, foliage, and scrollwork motifs. Signed by the artist, probably, S. Siowel, and inscribed, Stockholm, on the bottom. An unusual and completely unexpected combination of exquisite modern form, typical for Art Nouveau, and traditional Scandinavian wood carving. Circa: 1900s. Included in this lot is an Antique Primitive Hand-Carved Wood Dough Bowl, circa 19th century. In colonial America, dough bowls provided a snug, warm place in which bread could rise prior to baking.
