Mark Kostabi (American, b. 1960). Transcendent Glory, 2024. Oil on canvas. This tall, vertical composition features the artist's signature faceless, winged figures. One figure, with a purple-toned facial area, leans against the blue railing of a staircase; a second figure, with a red-toned facial area, sits on the lower steps. The background is a deep blue starry sky set behind three pointed-arch stained-glass windows in shades of yellow, blue, orange, and purple. The work is executed in a Pop-Surrealist style characterized by hard-edged outlines and smooth, airbrushed-effect color gradients. The painting is signed and dated on the lower left of the front in blue paint: KOSTABI 2024. The verso of the canvas is extensively inscribed in black marker with a stylized MARK KOSTABI signature and crown logo, the title TRANSCENDENT GLORY, the date 2024. A further notation at the bottom reads 10-31-24 - genetic beside a circular emblem. The work is presented on a gallery-wrapped canvas and is unframed.
