Lot description
An original oil painting on stretched canvas titled Manhattan Twilight Dream by American artist Mark Kostabi (born 1960). This surrealist, New York City-themed composition features the artist's signature faceless, tubular figures seated at a table in the foreground. One figure is rendered in yellow and the other in white, both holding wine glasses. Centered in the composition is a stylized Statue of Liberty depicted as a server, holding a raised wine glass and a domed food cloche on a tray. The background incorporates several iconic Manhattan landmarks, including One World Trade Center, the Chrysler Building, the George Washington Bridge, and the Brooklyn Bridge, alongside a violin resting against the structures. The scene is set against a warm, atmospheric sky with orange and yellow gradient clouds. The work is signed and dated in red paint at the lower left as KOSTABI 2023. The verso of the canvas is inscribed in black marker with the artist's name, the title MANHATTAN TWILIGHT DREAM, the date 2023. Dimensions: 16.00"L x 1.50"W x 28.00"H Weight: 4.00 lb
