Lot description
This original oil painting by American artist Mark Kostabi (b. 1960) is titled Sacred Balance and was executed in 2024. The composition features two of the artist's signature faceless, stylized figures rendered with smooth, airbrushed gradients and sharp graphic highlights. One figure is depicted in white with blue shadows, while the other is in vibrant red and white. The figures are intertwined in a dynamic, floating pose against a four-color vertical gradient background transitioning from red to orange, light blue, and lime green. Each figure holds several strings attached to a large anatomical heart and a human brain, which float above them like balloons. The work is signed and dated KOSTABI 2024 in light blue paint in the lower right corner. The verso of the canvas is inscribed in black marker with the artist's name MARK KOSTABI, the title SACRED BALANCE, the year 2024. Below this is the notation 10-31-24- generative accompanied by a symbol. The work is executed on a gallery-wrapped canvas stretched over a wooden frame and remains unframed.
