Value of old beer bottles
Old beer bottle value depends on exact bottle type, brewery, age, closure, color, condition, label, crate or stopper, and whether collectors are buying that local or specialty category.

- Check whether the bottle is glass, stoneware, ceramic ginger beer, blob top, crown top, labeled, embossed, or part of a crate or bar display.
- Record brewery name, town, glass color, closure type, stopper, label, base marks, mold seams, and any date clues.
- Separate early local bottles from common modern bottles. The difference can be large.
Key value drivers
Rare local brewery names, early manufacturing, unusual color, stoneware ginger beer forms, intact stoppers, strong embossing, clean labels, original crates, and excellent condition can help. Chips, cracks, label loss, heavy staining, replaced stoppers, and common recent bottles usually limit value.
Auction evidence from Appraisily's database
These records are market examples, not final appraisals. They show that early and specialty bottles can sell differently from common bottle groups or advertising crates.
Condition and authenticity cautions
Do not price an old beer bottle from age alone. Repaired stoneware, ground lips, replaced stoppers, reproduction labels, stains, cracks, and local-demand swings can change the result. Auction records show market context, not a guaranteed price for your bottle.

- Close-ups of chips, cracks, glaze damage, staining, label loss, repaired areas, and any brewery or town marks.
