the finely potted domed body rising to a waisted neck and flared rim, set with an upright curved spout opposite an elegant ear-shaped loop handle, reserved to each side with a panel within gilt scroll borders, one side enclosing a tranquil landscape scene superbly painted in fine detail depicting figures in a pavilion by a peaceful rippling lake amid lush trees, with another figure approaching on a bridge, and clouds swirling above in the distance, the reverse with the poem 'Preparing Tea in the Rain', composed by Emperor Qianlong and written in kaishu , ending with two mock seals Qian Long , reserved on a bright yellow-ground decorated with dense stylised lotus scrolls, the rim gilt, the interior and base turquoise, with a central square reserved in white for the base for the six-character seal-mark in underglaze-blue
