(Canadian, b.1945) TRUMPETER SWAN (Cygnus Buccinator), signed lower right, numbered lower left 658 / 1000, and marked with studio seal. This large piece or art is beautifully framed with a suede mat and under glass. The sight area measures approximately 25 x 36.5 and frame 35 x 46.5 x 1.25" The shipping weight is around 18 lbs. Loates is recognized as one of the finest printing artisans, and best known in the United States for his M. Bernard Loates Edition of John James Audubon, Birds of America. The Loates Birds of America series are the only modern Audubon edition to be created from the original Audubon water colors. Loates was granted permission by the New York Historical Society to work directly from the originals water colors.
