Georg Pencz (?circa 1500-1550 Leipzig or Wroclaw) Portrait of Sigismund Baldinger (1510-1558), three-quarter-length, seated, in a black satin doublet and a fur-lined black mantle, holding gloves, at a draped table signed 'PG' (in monogram, upper right, on a cartellino), inscribed and dated 'ANNO, M.D.X GEPOREN, AM, MO NTAG, VOR, PFINGST. 1 5 4 5 .' (centre right, on the sculpted cartouche) and '[...] wesch wassers' (centre left, on the water flask label) oil on panel 53¼ x 46½ in. (135.3 x 118.2 cm.) with the sitter's coat-of-arms and his initials 'S.B.' (lower right, on the sitter's ring)
