Lot description
A set of three Wedgwood 'Clovelly' pattern plates, designed by Rex Whistler. Each ceramic plate features a scalloped rim and is decorated with red transferware on an off-white ground. The border displays recurring floral and foliate motifs, while the central well presents a distinct landscape vignette framed by stylized scrolls. One visible scene depicts a coastal village with boats and structures, marked 'CLOVELLY' at its base. The reverse of each plate bears a red transfer-printed backstamp that reads 'Rex Whistler Design. WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND,' accompanied by a larger capital 'P,' and an impressed mark further indicating 'WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND' along with a partial number, '2A34.' A partially visible circular sticker also appears on the reverse, reading 'RUBIN COLLECTION'. Dimensions: 6.25" dia.
