David Nordahl Fly Far-Fareastern Airways / This Vacation Visit Beautiful Vietnam vintage poster 1966 35 h x 23 w in (89 x 58 cm) Deploying the visual language of aspirational travel advertising against the grim reality of the Vietnam War, it invites the viewer to vacation in "Beautiful Vietnam" while depicting battle-worn GIs charging into a hellish combat scene: soldiers whose scruffy, weary appearance evokes Bill Mauldin's beloved WWII cartoon characters Willie & Joe. A sardonic masterpiece of counter-cultural graphic design, it stands as a vivid artifact of the American anti-war movement that was rapidly gaining momentum in the mid-1960s as U.S. military involvement in Vietnam escalated. The poster was printed and published by Nordahl's own Pandora Productions in Minneapolis. Pandora Productions, Minneapolis This work will ship from Chicago, Illinois.
