Alfred Henry Maurer (American, 1868-1932), oil on board painting depicting a lush garden landscape with flowering foliage flanking a winding path leading toward a tranquil body of water beneath a softly rendered sky. Executed with thick impasto brushwork and vibrant coloration characteristic of the artists modernist approach to landscape painting. Artist signature lower right center. Presented in an ornate carved and gilt frame bearing an artist name plaque. The lot is accompanied by exhibition material from Hollis Taggart Galleries relating to Alfred Maurer. Work Size: 15 x 18 in. Dimensions: 22.5 X 25.75 X 1.5 in. Condition: Good to fair overall antique condition exhibiting age-related craquelure and toning throughout. The right side of the composition exhibits pronounced craquelure with areas of paint instability and scattered flaking/loss. Surface wear is present consistent with age. The frame exhibits normal storage wear along the edges and corners consistent with age and handling.
