Lot description
David West, RSW, Scottish 1868-1936- A pair of coastal landscapes; each watercolour on paper, each signed 'DAVID WEST. RSW' (one lower left, the other lower right), each 32 x 47.7 cm., a pair (2). Provenance: with Boswells Gallery, Norwich. Private Collection, UK. Note: Despite having travelled widely over the course of his career, including to the Netherlands and the British Columbia, West's scenes almost exclusively depict the landscape of the Scottish coast, particularly in Moray, and specifically the town of Lossiemouth, where he was born and spent much of his life. The present works are typical of West's sweeping views. Similar works by the artist include his watercolours which sold at Bonhams, Edinburgh, on 12 December 2023, lot 244 (£1,280) and on 8 October 2025, lot 36 (£1,024).
