Oliver Clare, British 1853-1927- Portrait of a dog in an interior; oil on canvas, bears stamp reading 'OLIVER CLARE' verso, 15.5 x 20.3 cm. Provenance: Purchased from the artist by the present owner's grandmother; Thence by descent (Private Collection, UK). Note: The present work is an unusual departure from the luscious still life paintings for which Clare is best known.
