Lot description

John Rogers Cox (1915-1990) Wheat Shocks 1951 The lithograph from an edition of 250 prints published by Associated American Artists is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right. John Rogers Cox was a gallery director (youngest in the nation at the time) before taking up painting himself. He was a regionalist when regionalism wasn't as cool, producing the bulk of his modest output (fewer than 20 paintings total) after leaving the army near the end of World War Two. His legacy is formidable. Every painting he produced can be accounted for and most are held in the permanent collections of American museums. Those that aren't in museums are listed as being in important collections. This fine, dark impression with pleasing burr is matted, not framed. Image measures 9 x 12, sheet is 10.5 x 13.5 inches. No frame. Without proof of exemption, be aware that internet sales tax applies to all Internet transactions and local sales tax may apply to local pick-up transactions. We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell. Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house.
