Born in Detroit, Michigan, Wyland developed an early passion for drawing and the natural world, which evolved into a lifelong mission to raise awareness about endangered ocean ecosystems. Since the early 1980s, he has created more than 100 monumental murals in cities around the world, along with paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works depicting whales, dolphins, and other sea creatures in vivid, realistic detail.
