HENRY WARD RANGER (NY/CT, 1858-1915) "Filtering Light", monumental American Impressionist landscape of a valley wooded glade, oil on canvas, unsigned, in hand carved pickled gold frame of the period. Craquelure. Old labels verso from William Macbeth; exhibition labels from "Invited Work, National Academy Special Exhibition, 1939", (on loan from Macbeth) & "Museum of Rhode Island School of Design Fall Exhibition." Frame is marked "Carrig-Rohane Shop, Wm. Vose, 1919." This shop was active in Boston, 1903-1962.
