Lot description

Franz Iffland (German,1862–1935) Bacchanalian Boy Bronze Sculpture Early 20th Cent. This is a patinated figural bronze sculpture titled "Schreitender Bacchusknabe" (Stepping Bacchus Boy) after the original model by German sculptor Franz Iffland (1862–1935). The work depicts a youthful, joyous Bacchanalian putto balanced dynamically on one foot, crowned with a wreath of grapes, and wrapped in an animal-skin cape. Executed with a rich, dark brown chemical patina, the bronze figure is securely mounted onto a turned, polished dark marble plinth. Inventory #18576
