Across three decades, Eugène Atget photographed Paris with extraordinary patience and specificity, recording its shopfronts, streets, interiors, parks and architectural fragments as the old city gave way to the modern one. These posthumous prints also trace Atget’s 20th-century afterlife, through Julien Levy, whose championing of his work helped secure his place within modern photography.
