Studie eines geborstenen Baumstammes. Pinsel in Grau und Schwarz, grau, braun und gelb laviert. 18,2 x 25,2 cm. Unten rechts signiert "Pierre". Jean-Baptiste Pierre war Schüler von Charles-Joseph Natoire an der Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture. Von 1770 bis 1789 war er Premier Peintre du Roy. - Provenienz: Sammlung des Frankfurter Historikers und Malers Friedrich Phillip Usener, siehe anliegendes Gutachten der Kunsthandlung J.P.
