This original oil on canvas painting by Swiss artist Roger Delapierre (1935-2021) depicts a rustic Mediterranean architectural scene. The composition features weathered white-plastered stone buildings with terracotta tiled roofs set against an overcast gray-blue sky. The work is executed with expressive, textured brushwork and impasto highlights, particularly on the building facades and the dry vegetation in the foreground. The painting is signed Delapierre in the lower right corner. It is housed in an ornate, heavily carved gilt-finished wood and gesso frame with a linen-covered inner slip.
