Tom Gilfillan Fingal's Cave / Staffa vintage poster c. 1930 sight: 39.75 h x 49.625 w in (101 x 126 cm) Tom Gilfillan created a travel poster for Staffa depicting Fingal's Cave, a dramatic sea cave of basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity and popularized in the 19th century as a Romantic natural wonder. Known for his Scottish travel and railway poster work in the interwar period, Gilfillan was part of the broader tradition of commercial artists who helped shape early 20th century visual tourism imagery in Britain. A variant example of this poster is held in the collection of the Science Museum Group, United Kingdom. John Horn Limited, Glasgow This work will ship from Chicago, Illinois.
