Jean Carlu Pan American World Airways / Scandinavia vintage poster 1950 offset lithograph in colors 42.25 h x 28 w in (107 x 71 cm) Between the late '40s and early '60s, Carlu created ten posters for Pan Am. True to the spirit of travel posters, he emphasized instant visual appeal through bright, sunny colors, upbeat imagery, and a sense of carefree indulgence. For this design, he tapped into our Viking imagination, featuring a legendary dragon-prowed longship to lend Pan Am's Scandinavian service a strong touch of Norse allure. Literature: Carlu, 69; Toujours Plus Haut, p. 208; PAI-XXXV, 85 This work will ship from Chicago, Illinois.
