Cornelis van Poelenburgh (attributed to) (Utrecht 1594/95 - Utrecht 1667) Landscape with Nymphs, oil on panel, 32 x 40 cm - framed, 43 x 52 cm. This panel clearly echoes the style of Cornelis van Poelenburgh, a great Dutch painter born in Utrecht around 1594. He lived in Florence in the service of the Grand Ducal court, leaving a significant number of works in the Medici collections. The painting can likely be dated between 1621 and 1627, during his stay in Rome. In the foreground, towards the right, are three nymphs, robust and solid figures, an illusory interpretation of the female nude, harking back to the tradition of ancient sculpture. In the background, a Lazio landscape opens up, characterized by sinuous lines that fade towards the horizon.
