RICHARD AVEDON (1923–2004) | Renée, The new Look of Dior', Place de la Concorde, Paris, August 1947 Image size: 32.6 x 26.9 cm English Gelatin silver print, printed in the 1980s on double-weight semi-matte paper 35.5 x 27.7 cm, in very good condition. Photographer's studio stamp, studio's typographic title stamp, stamp "This is a photographic copy of the original to be used for publicity only", and reproduction stamp on the reverse. This photograph impressively demonstrates how Richard Avedon revolutionized fashion photography by replacing static poses with dynamism, emotion, and narrative elements, and by shooting outdoors. It was taken in the same year that one of his photographs first appeared on the cover of Harper's Bazaar. The print was produced as a promotional piece for print media and therefore is not in the same price range as signed art prints (which fetch five-figure sums on the art market). Since this beautiful, high-quality baryta print comes from Avedon's studio, it can certainly be considered a collector's item. Diese Fotografie zeigt eindrucksvoll, wie Richard Avedon die Modefotografie revolutionierte, indem er statische Posen durch Dynamik, Emotion und erzählerische Elemente ersetzte und auch im Außenraum fotografierte. Sie entstand im selben Jahr, in dem erstmals eine seiner Aufnahmen am Cover von Harper's Bazaar erschien. Der Abzug wurde als Werbeexemplar für Printmedien angefertigt und liegt daher preislich nicht in derselben Liga wie signierte Kunstdrucke (die auf dem Kunstmarkt fünfstellige Summen erzielen). Da der attraktive Barytabzug aus Avedons Atelier stammt, kann er durchaus als Sammlerstück gelten.
