Albert Moritz Wolff, Der Abschied Early 20th century, Cyrillic signature on the plinth (М. Вольф), dark brown patinated bronze, depiction of a Cossack on horseback, saying goodbye to his girl, on a naturalistic plinth, reins missing, spear somewhat displaced, verdigris, h with spear 36.5 cm, h sculpture 26.5 cm. Artist information: German sculptor (1854 Berlin - 1923 Lüneburg), probably trained as a drawing teacher, first sculptural works can be traced from 1879, studied at the Berlin Art Academy and exhibited at the academy exhibition from 1881, demonstrably until at least 1885 as a drawing teacher at the Französisches Gymnasium Berlin, In addition to monumental works, he also produced small sculptures and medals; as works signed in Cyrillic with genre depictions of Russian life are in circulation, there is speculation as to whether he was temporarily based in Russia or only produced for the Russian market.
