Lot description

(born in Vienna in 1940) Untitled, from the series "Fruchtfleisch" (Fruit Pulp), 2012, signed and dated Martha Jungwirth 2012, oil on cardboard, 84.6 x 107.9 cm, framed Provenance: Galerie Michael Haas, Berlin – acquired directly from the artist Private Collection, Germany Literature: Martha Jungwirth. Malerei. Galerie Michael Haas, Berlin 2015, no. 17 with full page illustration. Exhibited: Berlin, Galerie Michael Haas, Martha Jungwirth, 6 March – 18 April 2015. …in Martha Jungwirth’s studio…the centrally placed table is largely covered, like a still life, with half- or fully squeezed, partly dried-out tubes of oil paint, all of which are coated in a reddish-purple hue. In between are small bowls for mixing or stirring paint, which have also taken on this reddish-purple tint, with hints of crimson, vermilion, and lavender. A preference for color that is at the same time a trace of a working method that has little to do with economical calculations of and rule and order… Jörg Heiser from Martha Jungwirth: Bring me the Head! Art Prize Klocker Stiftung, Klocker Stiftung, Innsbruck 2016.
