William Gropper (American, 1897-1977), Fire Escape, ink drawing on paper, depicting a dynamic urban streetscape with exaggerated architectural forms and stacked fire escapes. The composition reflects the artists expressive line work and modernist interpretation of city life. The drawing is signed "Gropper" in the lower left. The work is presented under glass, matted in a gold frame with a white mat. Approximate sight size 27" x 19". Dimensions: 35 X 26.5 X in. Condition: Good overall vintage condition with visible toning and scattered foxing and staining to the paper. There is light waviness to the sheet, which has shifted slightly under the mat.
