Lot description
Frank Meisler (Polish-Israeli, 1925–2018), mixed media dolphin sculpture, depicting two dolphins in dynamic motion above a detailed ocean floor base with shells, coral, and marine life. The composition is crafted from metal alloys, including silver and gold-plated accents, and features green hardstone jeweled-style eyes. The scene evokes an underwater reef environment inspired by the Red Sea, populated with fish and aquatic motifs. The dolphins are mounted with movable elements: the lower dolphin is set on a swivel joint allowing it to be angled as desired, while the upper dolphin rotates independently in place, adding a subtle kinetic quality to the composition. The work is mounted on a polished stone base with gilt accents throughout the seabed, raised on gold metal feet at each corner. This example is from a limited edition. The base bears the raised maker’s name, and the side of one dolphin is incised "Frank Meisler Israel A/R." Dimensions: 11 X 6 X 9 in. Condition: Good overall condition with typical surface wear.
