Lot description
Franz Bergman (1838-1894), Cold Painted Austrian Bronze Lamp 19th Century, Austria. The piece is modeled as an elaborate pavilion, richly detailed with Moorish-inspired ornament, including a domed finial, pierced galleries, and textured geometric patterns. The front opens to reveal a sensuous interior scene: a finely cast female figure reclining on a chaise within a curtained harem setting, rendered with remarkable attention to anatomy, drapery, and expression. The revolving lamp depicts a man holding a sword on the opposite side of the woman. Stamped on its underside with the importer's seal "Casa Vignes de M.P. Sanchez, Florida 361 B. Aires". Stamped with the artist's hallmark on the back bottom of the lamp. Untested lamp, needs bulb. EU plug.
