Oil on canvas abstract, 1966. Colorful painting with heavy brush strokes. Image of a woman seated in front of a curtain. Signed lower right and dated '66. Image 32 inches x 24 inches. Narrowgilt frame, 26 inches x 34 inches. Good condition. Estate of Nicholas Mitropoulos (Massachusetts 1952-2025).George Mavroidis (1912-2003) was born in Piraeus/Greece of Cypriot parents, he spent his childhood years in Larnaca. . He is a self-taught artist who begun to paint systematically at the end of WW2, experimenting with various techniques, such as oils, tempera, watercolor and encaustic art. During his stay in Paris (1950 - 52) he was able to follow closely contemporary visual trends.2000
