Lot description
Untitled signed and dated 2016 (lower right) oil on wood 24” x 24” (61 cm x 61 cm) Born in Calbayog, Samar, Raul Isidro immersed himself in the region’s picturesque landscape and translated its beauty into his paintings. His works often leave his viewers in awe, all the while binding them to the natural world. Essentially abstract in form, Isidro’s canvases are filled with bold gestural strokes and segmented shapes painted in vibrant, luminous colors. Inspired by the scenery he is always found in, his canvases present flora, fauna, and the earth’s ever-changing moods and conditions, brought to life with every swish and flick of his brush. The artist’s vigorous strokes and palette added a burst of energy and vibrancy to his every piece. (Jessica Magno)
