PROPERTY FROM THE VIC SALTA COLLECTION Seascape signed and dated 11-58 (lower right) oil on canvas 11” x 14” (28 cm x 36 cm) A son of a fisherman, the sea has always been a source of fascination for Guagua’s master painter, Elias Laxa. As shown in this 1958 Seascape, the ever-changing facade of the ocean is among some of his masterpieces. This particular work zooms out from the fishermen and their families into the majesty of the sea itself. Here, he captures the stillness of an early morning sea, the light blue of the water a captivating picture of tranquility amidst quiet and honest work. (Hannah Andrea Valiente)
