A member of the National Association of Women Artists, she had received the Alger Prize at its 1947 exhibition. She had also won association prizes in 1956 and 1957. She had been vice president of the New York Society of Women Artists and a director of it at her death.Miss Lewis studied at the Art Students League and with private teachers.
