Lot description

Leonard Howard Reedy (American, 1899-1956), pure watercolor on wove paper depicting a saddled dark-colored horse standing before a rustic wooden fence. Executed in a representational Western style, the work is a characteristic example of Reedy's genre scenes. Signed LEONARD H. REEDY in watercolor in the lower right corner. The painting is presented in a wide, light-tan mount featuring hand-drawn ruled lines in red and black ink, housed in a multi-tiered gilded wood frame. The verso is sealed with a brown paper backing that bears a framer's label for George L. Noble, Fine Framing, Minneapolis, along with a handwritten pencil inscription titled Waiting.
