Listed artist Charles Baxter Oil on Board Female Portrait. A well-preserved oil painting on a mahogany wood board panel, given the title "Unknown Portrait of a Woman," and signed by the artist Charles Baxter (English, b. 1809 - d. 1879). The painter was especially known for his portraits of young women, characterized by refinement of the subject's expression and purity of color demonstrated in this work. The back of the piece details the conservation work done, including a preserved handwritten note encased below the technical details. Measures: Frame: 9-3/4" x 11-3/4"; Site: 5-3/4" x 7-1/2"
