Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) Autograph Letter Signed with Illustrations. 30 May 1898. Octavo folding wove letter paper with Greenaway's 39 Frognal, Hampstead address; to her good friend Lady Maria Ponsonby (1836-1912); inscribed over 4 pages with a small sketch and original holograph envelope; 4 x 6 in. "You would have laughed if you could have seen the people on the heath this afternoon. I wished Jon [?] could have been there [...] it was too funny for words. There were 4 young ladies in hats and feathers dancing a break down in a row to [...] an accordion. The favourite pastime is pursuing your friends with this implement [drawing of a boy in a cap with what looks like a ball on a string or handle] and bestowing sounding thuds upon them."
