white-washed village, Southern France sgn. and dated l.r. Krikhaar LB '62; also sgn. verso oil/board; 20.25 by 28 in.; framed 28 by 36 in. In 1963 Krikhaar opened his art gallery in Amsterdam featuring etchings by Marc Chagall. The gallery soon became Amsterdam's center for exhibitions dedicated to CoBrA-artists. Krikhaar's spectacular openings personified the swinging-sixties, replete with flower-power "happenings". A friend of Picasso's nephew, in the 1970's Krikhaar organized three exhibitions of Picasso paintings from the artist's later years.
