Lot description
Hayley Lever (American/Australian, 1876-1958), Pink Roses in Blue Vase, 1935, a watercolor on paper depicting a still life arrangement of pink roses set within a vibrant blue vase. The composition reflects Lever's impressionist sensibility, with fluid brushwork and a lively handling of color that captures the freshness and delicacy of the blooms. Known for his urban scenes and still lifes, Lever employed a harmonious contrast between the soft pink petals and the bold blue vessel. Signed lower left. The verso retains a Clayton Liberatore Art Gallery label listing the artist, title, medium, and date. The frame bears an engraved nameplate reading 1876 Hayley Lever 1958 with associated memberships. Presented under glass in a gilt frame with layered mat. Approximate sight size 11 x 14.5 inches. Dimensions: 34.5 X 24.5 X 1 in. Condition: Good overall vintage condition with typical light surface wear and toning. The frame exhibits normal storage wear with small losses along the edges and corners.
