Charles Herbert Woodbury (American, 1864-1940). Oil on canvas painting titled "Rising Tide," 1900. Depicting a stormy sea or ocean landscape with dynamic waves rolling against a rocky structure. Signed and dated along the lower left. Further dated and titled along the verso. Elizabeth Ward Perkins (American, 1873-1959) was an artist and art patron who studied and collaborated with Charles H. Woodbury. Following Woodbury's death in 1940, Perkins served as the executor for the artist's estate. Along the verso of this work, Perkins has indicated the painting's size, title, and date in her hand, followed by her signature. With an estate ink stamp along the verso.
