Lot description
A stone lithograph c.1962 by the late Alaskan artist, Fred Machetanz (1908-2002) entitled "Stalking the Seal". The work depicts wily hunter Accibuk (Achebuk) in his white parka as he bellies toward a seal he has spotted sunning on the Bering Sea ice field in spring. He is a skilled hunter, as evidenced by the waterproof sealskin pants and boots he is already wearing. Titled lower left, marked Edition-100, and hand-signed in graphite lower right. Housed in a white mat with discoloration as shown, it measures approximately 15" x 19" overall with a sight view of 11" x 15".
