Lot description
An original painting on canvas by Alaska artist Scott McDaniel (1926-2012). McDaniel is known for his majestic landscapes and wildlife paintings of Alaska, including many ice tundras, snowy mountains, the aurora borealis, and alpenglow sunsets. This painting depicts an imposing snowy Mount Denali in soft blues and whites, the foreground in contrast with dark greens and browns of bare trees and mossy trails; pink daubs can be seen flanking the trail, likely the blooming fireweed of late summer and early fall. Artwork is signed in the lower left corner; housed in the original frame, it measures approximately 20.5" x 17.5" overall with a sight view of 14" x 11".
