Lot description

Luciano Castelli (b. 1951) "Amitié à Mollinier", 1982 On 4 joined sheets, Goache and mixed media paper Signed on the left side, dated lower right Measures: 200 x 140 cm Provenance: Private Swiss Collection Luciano Castelli (b. 1951) is a Swiss artist known for his work in painting, photography, performance, and installation. Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, he became associated with the vibrant avant-garde art and performance scene that emerged in Europe in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Castelli first gained recognition for his striking photographic self-portraits and performative works that explored identity, transformation, and theatricality. Working across multiple media, Castelli often combined painting, photography, and staged performances to create dramatic images influenced by fashion, music, and underground culture. His work reflects the experimental artistic climate of the post-punk era and frequently challenges traditional notions of gender, representation, and self-image. Castelli’s works have been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums across Europe and the United States, and his photographs and paintings are held in several public and private collections.
