Lot description

Oil on panel. Painting on a small wooden panel by the Italian artist Antonio Lonza, active between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Trained in the artistic milieu of Trieste, then an important cultural center of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Lonza developed a body of work focused primarily on genre scenes and landscapes, characterized by loose brushwork and particular attention to the effects of light and atmosphere. His works reflect the pictorial sensibility of late Italian naturalism, with small-format compositions often intended for the bourgeois market and private collectors. The choice of a wooden panel as a support was common for this type of painting, allowing for rapid execution and remarkable precision in detail. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
