Lot description
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS Intriguing partly-printed D.S. 'John Quincy Adams' as Secretary of State, 1p. 4to., Washington, Nov. 5, 1823, a copyright issued to DR. FELIX PASCALIS (1762-1833) for his work (title illegible) concerning burials in cities, 'illustrated[?] by an account of the Funeral rite, and customs, of the Hebrews, Greeks, Romans and primitive cultures...and by chemical and Physical Principles...' Pascalis was a prominent Philadelphia public health administrator, scientist, contagious disease expert and homeopath. The document has been dampened and has substantial losses to the left side costing a few words of text, but is still quite acceptable and quite rare.
