CHRISTOFFEL JEGHER (1596 Antwerp 1653) Silenus, accompanied by a satyr and faun. After Peter Paul RUBENS. Woodcut on laid paper with watermark. Inscribed and signed in the block on the lower margin: P. P. Rub. delineau et excud. Cum Privilegiis. Christoffel Jegher sculp. 45 x 34 cm. Framed. Hollstein 16 I (of II, before the address of Rubens was erased). - Excellent impression with the inner border line all around; the outer margins and the second border line are later added. A few insignificant stains and a few light traces of surface abrasion. With a flattened horizontal centre fold. A few signs of age and handling. Verso at the left edge with a few remnants of an earlier mounting. Hollstein 16 I (von II, vor Löschung der Adresse von Rubens). - Ausgezeichneter Druck umlaufend mit der inneren Einfassungslinie; die äusseren Ränder und die zweite Einfassungslinie sind ergänzt. Einzelne unbedeutende Flecken und wenige dezente Spuren von Bereibungen. Mit geglätteter horizontaler Mittelfalte. Wenige Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Verso am linken Rand mit wenigen Resten einer älteren Montierung. Insgesamt in schöner Erhaltung.
