Lot description

BLADE (1998) - Blade's (Wesley Snipes) SFX Daywalker Sword and Scabbard - Blade's (Wesley Snipes) SFX Daywalker sword and scabbard from Stephen Norrington's Blade. The half-human, half-vampire wielded his signature sword in multiple scenes throughout the film, including in the climactic battle with Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) after Frost became the avatar of the supreme blood god La Magra. First introduced in Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan's The Tomb of Dracula No. 10, the half-human half-vampire Blade exclusively used melee weapons such as teakwood daggers and mahogany stakes to slay vampires prior to the film trilogy. For Norrington's film, the revolutionary superhero was updated to be particularly proficient with his Sword of the Daywalker, requiring Snipes to undergo intensive weapons and fight training. Blade's sword appeared in every film in the franchise and is today considered his signature weapon. This version of the Daywalker's sword was created for effects inserts of its grip piercing the hands of anyone other than Blade attempting to hold it. The sword features a polished steel blade with fuller detailing down its length, as well as a ribbed, machined aluminum grip engraved with ornately vampiric glyphs and inset with four concealed blades. The grip is spring-loaded to release the blades by twisting the handguard clockwise, while twisting it counterclockwise locks the blades in place. Also included is a leatherette-bound scabbard engraved with glyphs on both ends, as well as mount points to attach it to Blade's vest. This is one of the finest examples of this sword available on the market. The sword exhibits minor scratching on the blade and grip from handling. Dimensions: (sword) 35" x 2" x 2" (89 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm) Blade was dulled by production. Estimate: $25,000 - 50,000 Bidding for this lot will end on Wednesday, March 25th.
