Herman Leonard (American, 1923-2010), Louis Armstrong, Newport, 1955, black-and-white silver gelatin photograph from the Images of Jazz portfolio. This iconic image captures the famed jazz trumpeter mid-performance, shown in an expressive, upward-angled pose as he plays his instrument. The photograph is signed by Leonard in ink at the lower right, with the title, date, and edition number 5/50 inscribed at the lower left. The approximate sight size measures 22.5" x 19". Presented under plexiglass in a sleek black frame with a white mat. Dimensions: 31.5 X 26.5 X 1 in. Condition: Good overall condition with typical to mild surface wear and toning. The frame exhibits normal storage wear along the edges and corners. The work was not examined out of the frame.
