Alfred Fontville de Breanski, British 1877-1957- Derwentwater; oil on canvas, signed 'A F de Breanski' (lower left), 40.5 x 61 cm. ARR. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Alfred Fontville de Breanski studied with, and was heavily inspired by, his father, the celebrated landscape painter Alfred de Breanski Senior (1852-1928), and, like his father, he became well-known for his dramatic and expansive countryside views. Similar works, for example, include the artist's Highland view which sold at Lyon & Turnbull, Edinburgh, on 6 June 2024, lot 19 (£3,024), and his strikingly similar view of Derwentwater which sold at Bonhams, New York, on 3 May 2017, lot 54 ($5,000).
