Lot description
An interior scene narrated with vivacity and a subtle sense of irony, inviting the gaze to wander among the numerous characters captured in quotidian and frenetic poses, revealing a succession of details and micro-stories. The work displays the typical characteristics of Alessandro Magnasco's work, with elongated and dynamic figures inserted into a complex architectural setting, articulated by arches and wall openings. The dramatic use of light and shadow helps create a theatrical and popular atmosphere, a hallmark of the Genoese master. Oil on canvas 117x147.5 cm - framed 137.5x168 cm
